I don't think 'Queen' and their affiliated companies are doing
the right thing these days. Simply put it: this new album is a tasteless rip-off.
It makes me sad. So here it is, online.

The notes are taken directly from the sleeve.
It does not mean that I agree with the superlatives.
This compilation is not worthy to the majestic name.
It includes real hits of course. And remixes, covers from
a man's work who wanted to work on
those songs without Queen. He finished and released them the
way he wished, under his very own, proud name.
Now his wishes don't mean a thing.

This site is therefore dedicated to the immortal,
free spirit of Freddie Mercury, the artist.

Donate money directly to an AIDS charity today.
And listen to the original recordings.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON (Queen)
Performed by Elton John and Queen
Recorded live at Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris by Justin Shirley-Smith

Written by Queen, this version of a hit from Innuendo, previously unreleased, was recorded with Elton John on lead vocals, at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, in Paris. The date was 17th January 1997, and the event was the Gala opening night of Le Presbytère n'a rien perdu de son charme ni le jardin de son èclat, a moving work by French ballet legend Maurice Béjart. The work drew upon AIDS and the early deaths of Freddie and the company's principal dancer Jorge Donn, as its major source of inspiration. The subsequent film of the ballet by David Mallet entitled "Ballet For Life" won a Montreux Golden Rose in 1998. Queen's music, along with Mozart, provided the score for the ballet, and Queen - performing live for only the second time since Freddie's death - with Elton John closed the show with this high drama version of what has become identified as Queen's tribute to Freddie. Originally a hit in 1991 it has now become a fitting tribute to the unquestionable musical majesty of Queen and Elton John.

UNDER PRESSURE Rah mix (Queen and David Bowie)
Performed by Queen and David Bowie
Produced by Queen and David Bowie

Remixed by Queen with additional work by Joshua J. Macrae and Justin Shirley-Smith

This classic collaboration with David Bowie started life at a jam session at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland. Built around John Deacon's unforgettable bassline and a wonderful duet between David Bowie and FreddieMercury, 'Under Pressure' became an instant No. 1 upon its release in 1981. Always a live favourite for Queen, in more recent years David too, has begun including the song in his set-lists. The version included here features fresh recording work by Brian and Roger and has been especially remixed for this album.

BARCELONA (Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran)
Performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé
Produced by Freddie Mercury, David Richards and Mike Moran

On their first meeting at the Ritz Hotel in Barcelona Montserrat Caballé asked Freddie to write a song about her home town. The result realised Freddie's dream of recording with the famous Spanish opera star who he considered to have the most beautiful female voice in the world. A hit single in 1987, it reached No. 8 in the UK, but had a second lease of life five years later when it reached No. 2, after being adopted for the 1992 Olympic Games. Montserrat Caballé performed the song again in the Barcelona Olympic Stadium immediately before Manchester United1s 1999 triumph in the UEFA Champions League - a true European anthem.

TOO MUCH LOVE WILL KILL YOU (Brian May, Frank Musker, Elizabeth Lamers)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen and David Richards

This starkly moving song, written by Brian May, Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers, was premiered by Brian at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1992, and was included on Brian's solo album Back To The Light that same year also reaching No. 5 as a single in Britain. Queen's own version remained unreleased until 1995, when it appeared on Made In Heaven, and reached No. 15 this time as a Queen single. The song won an Ivor Novello Award for the 'Best song musically and lyrically' of 1996.

SOMEBODY TO LOVE (Freddie Mercury)
Performed by George Michael and Queen
Produced by George Michael and Queen
Recorded live at Wembley Stadium by David Richards

Featuring George Michael on vocals, this wonderfully exuberant track was recorded live at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium, and featured a gospel choir and the very audible support from 72,000 full-throated fans. Probably rightly, it has long been hailed as one of the best performances of the day. Originally issued as a single in 1976, 'Somebody To Love' made its debut on A Day At The Races, and became Queen's sixth Top 10 hit. Seventeen years later, this tribute version appeared on the Five Live EP, this time reaching No. 1.

YOU DON'T FOOL ME (Queen)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen, co-produced by David Richards, Justin Shirley-Smith and Joshua J. Macrae

Harking back to the early 80s and their disco-flavoured Hot Space album, Queen wrote and recorded 'You Don1t Fool Me' as a latter-day foray into dance music. This was another track the band recorded together as a four-piece with Freddie but didn't release until 1995, when it first appeared on Made In Heaven. The song has the distinction of being one of Queen's first to be remixed by outside DJs, and upon its release as a 12", became the rage in clubs across Europe and America and a big hit in its own right.

HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE (Roger Taylor)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen, co-produced by David Richards, Justin Shirley-Smith and Joshua J. Macrae

Originally conceived for Roger Taylor's solo project, The Cross, 'Heaven For Everyone' remains one of Queen's most underrated songs. While Roger sang lead on the Cross's 1987 single version, Freddie performed it as guest vocalist on the accompanying album, Shove It!. Keeping Freddie's vocal intact, Roger, Brian and John reworked the backing track for Made In Heaven and it reached No. 2 in the UK charts when released in 1995.

LAS PALABRAS DE AMOR (Brian May)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen and Mack

Partly sung in Spanish and written by Brian May in the wake of Queen's epic tours of South America, 'Las Palabras De Amor' originally appeared on Hot Space. This beautiful song of love and hope was a hit single in 1982 and has become a great favourite with Queen's legendary South American fans.

DRIVEN BY YOU (Brian May)
Performed by Brian May
Produced by Brian May and David Richards

This terse yet emotional rock song and live favourite was written by Brian and, encouraged by Freddie and the band, Brian released it as a single in late 1991. Speeding into the charts, it became one of Brian's most successful solo singles to date. Featured on his Back To The Light album, it reached No. 6. It was further popularised by its use in a TV ad campaign for Ford Cars, and won Brian an Ivor Novello award.

LIVING ON MY OWN (Freddie Mercury)
Original production by Freddie Mercury and Mack
Rearranged, produced and recorded by Serge Ramaekers, Colin Peter and Carl Ward For 'No More Brothers'R Productions at No More Studio 1, Antwerp, April'93
Cutting by Paul Van Der Jonckheid at Foon

Originally released by Freddie Mercury in 1985, and included on his Mr. Bad Guy album, 'Living On My Own' was remixed and re-released in 1993 and spent two weeks at No. 1 in the UK charts and won Freddie a postumous Ivor Novello award. At odds with the lyrical tone of the song, Freddie's vocal performance is one of pure delight. "Bee-bop-bay-bop" indeed!

LET ME LIVE (Queen)
Performed by Queen
Produced and arranged by Queen
Co-produced and engineered by Justin Shirley-Smith and Joshua J. Macrae

Written by Queen, this provided the band with their 4th successive chart single from Made In Heaven.. Classic Queen rock - big on production and pounding rhythm - the track was however a notable departure from the band's familiar Freddie Mercury vocal-lead style; here Roger and Brian unusually came to the fore, each carrying a verse of the song before joining forces with Freddie in performing the powerful anthem chorus.

THE GREAT PRETENDER (Buck Ram)
Performed by Freddie Mercury
Produced by Freddie Mercury, Mike Moran and David Richards

Freddie's larger-than-life remake of this Platters favourite from 1956 reached No. 4 in the UK charts in 1987. The video for the single, which starred Roger and Freddie dressed, once again, in women's clothing (remember 'I Want to Break Free'?), also featured the rare sight of Freddie without his trademark moustache.

PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE (Brian May)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen and Mack

A highlight of Queen's 1986 album, A Kind Of Magic, 'Princes Of The Universe' is also something of an overlooked treasure, since it was only issued as a single in America. This thunderous song was originally written for the Russell Mulcahy film Highlander starring Christophe Lambert. It was accompanied by a memorable video in which a sword-fighting Lambert engages in battle with Freddie, who was armed only with his trusty microphone stand! It has been rediscovered worldwide as a result of the subsequent TV series.

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST (John Deacon)
Performed by Queen with additional vocals by Wyclef Jean featuring Pras Michel / Free
Remixed by Wyclef Jean Queen's biggest U.S. hit provided them with a four week run at the top of the US charts in October 1980. This John Deacon song has since become one of Queen's most covered as well as an anthem for sports occasions the world over. This version produced by Wyclef Jean, Pras Michel and Free mixing Queen's original version with Pras Michel and Free's rap vocals, was for the 1998 film Small Soldiers. It was a hit all over again for the band, particularly registering high in the dance/R&B charts, bringing Queen's music to a whole new audience.

NO-ONE BUT YOU (Brian May)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen
Engineered by Justin Shirley-Smith and Joshua J. Macrae

Brian May's emotional ballad was written as a tribute to all those who pass before their time; and was prompted by the tragic early deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and, of course, Freddie Mercury. Released in January 1998 after a campaign by fans, this hit single is the only new, post-Freddie studio recording to date to feature the three-man Queen line-up of Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor.

THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES (Queen)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen and David Richards

'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' is one of the most beautiful and poignant songs in the Queen catalogue. Its video was the last to be filmed by the group as a four-piece with Freddie, and is especially memorable for its closing moment in which Freddie stops singing, looks down, and utters thewords "I still love you". The track first appeared on Innuendo in 1991 and reached No. 1 as a single later in the year.

THANK GOD IT'S CHRISTMAS (Roger Taylor, Brian May)
Performed by Queen
Produced by Queen and Mack

Queen's only Christmas single, this track spent six weeks in the charts over the Christmas/new Year period 1984/85. A rare songwriting collaboration between Roger Taylor and Brian May, it enjoyed a second lease of life Christmas 1995 coupled with the hit single 'A Winter's Tale' from Made In Heaven
